At Better Leeds Communities, we recognise the potential of families and the areas in which they live, the importance of fostering good relationships in childhood and of social responsibility and working together.
We offer a wide range of activities and events aimed at building on these values, designed to break cycles of deprivations, poor physical and mental health and low self-esteem.
Our activities are tailor-made to reflect the diversity within communities and we take a non-judgmental, open approach to help families overcome any difficulties they may be facing.
Better Leeds Communities has been awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund Coronavirus Community Support Fund.
Burley Voices will set up a Digital Community for women living in the Burley area of Leeds that will support and keep them connected during COVID-19 social restrictions.
Over the last few years, we have worked with a group of local women to develop a community offer for families. Before COVID-19 there had been an aspiration to relaunch this community offer in the summer of 2020, but this was not possible - instead our offer will become a digital one with a range of activities and groups being be run on a video platform; and the project will also work to build confidence in attendees to return to 'actual' events in the community when the COVID-19 situation allows.
If you are interested in joining please contact Mel via info@betterleeds.org.uk or tel 0113 275 4142 for a chat about how you can join, take part and even lead events to support women living in Burley.
